Plants that should not be planted around the house

Snakes are animals that appear quite a lot in life and cause a lot of confusion for people, especially in areas where poisonous snakes appear a lot.

They crawl on roofs, on tree branches, they hide under beds, hide in corners or cool places.

That is why the research and study of snakes is very much noticed by people and scientists today.

Research on snakes shows that snakes are a type of high-level animal with a very developed sense of smell, they like this smell and fear that smell.

Specifically, there are folk tales about a number of plants that attract snakes to gather, which is very dangerous. These are the plants:

1. White snake grass (white snake tongue grass, boa constrictor grass, snake grass, snake grass…) is a type of grass that grows all year round on the roadside, in humid places, prefers cool places and is found in all three regions of the North, Central and South. Where there is this type of grass, there are snakes.

2. White snake grass (also known as white flower tail, thorn leaf plant, white snow flower), grows in cool, humid places. Although the plant is a precious medicinal herb used to treat dermatitis, gallstones, hepatitis, cancer or brighten the eyes… its scent is especially attractive to snakes.

3. Purple cassia fruit is sweet when ripe… and is food for mice, squirrels, porcupines… Because snakes love to eat mice, when purple cassia fruit is ripe, snakes look for it to hunt mice. This plant often grows in clumps along streams, forest edges, in humid places, with lots of shade… so people should avoid places where purple cassia fruit is in season to avoid being bitten by snakes.

Some other flowers with scents that attract snakes in folk medicine such as passionflower, jasmine, cosmos, morning glory… are planted naturally, but if fertilized with chemical fertilizers, or sprayed with pesticides or weed killers, snakes will not come.

So what should you do to prevent your home from becoming a place that attracts snakes?

There are usually 3 main reasons why snakes are attracted: hiding places, food and water sources, so to avoid snakes entering your home, you need to limit these 3 factors:

– Kill rats in the house, clear bushes and weeds, regularly cut grass, cover holes or holes, and entrances around the house and ceiling, avoid leaving water sources outdoors, in the yard, garden such as broken pots because they attract snakes as well as provide places for mosquitoes to grow.

– Keep your house neat, tidy and clean, this will limit the places where snakes can live. If you find holes or peeled snake skin in your garden or yard, inform family members to be careful, especially children, and stay away from these places.
