In Upper Sandusky, Ohio, a Dollar Tree business was broken into by a guy brandishing a machete on Sunday, killing newlywed Keris Riebel, 22, who was 22 years old. According to Upper Sandusky Police, Riebel was working at the location at 1120 Wyandot Avenue about 4:25 p.m.
When a man brandishing a machete entered the store, later identified as 27-year-old Bethel Bekele. Bekele allegedly approached Riebel and repeatedly struck her with the weapon before killing her.
Officers were dispatched in response to reports that a man was attacking a worker inside the company while brandishing a machete. When they arrived, Riebel was already gone. Police discovered the suspect in a parked automobile in the 100 block of South Fifth Street, close to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.
When the police arrived, Bekele turned himself in, was taken into custody, and has been charged with murder.
Authorities are investigating if Riebel and Bekele were acquainted, but the attack’s motivation is now unknown. When asked about the incident, a resident said, “It’s terrible to see something like this in Upper Sandusky, because it’s such a wonderful place.”
Jordan Riebel’s aunt has created a GoFundMe to aid with funeral costs and Jordan Riebel’s lost income while he takes time off to grieve. Riebel’s family is in mourning over her demise.
Following receipt of her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources, Riebel was prepared to begin her career. Riebel and Jordan, according to her aunt, were ready to start their new life together, have a family, and purchase a pet.
Their future was nonetheless “torn apart from the both of them in a matter of seconds.”
Riebel graduated in 2019 from Wynford Local Schools, which characterized her as having a “wonderful spirit with a faith-filled heart.” She had a lovely grin that exuded sincere warmth for everyone she met. Even though Keris passed away far too soon, the Wynford community will never forget her.
