Al discussed his recent health scare and thanked his children for supporting him throughout it after properly recuperating.
Deborah called the challenging time “the worst thing we’ve ever endured as a family and as a wife.” She called the situation “the hardest thing we’ve ever faced.”
Al stated, “I’m not sure whether I would have been able to retain the upbeat attitude that I had, whether I had comprehended how horrible it actually was. She was successful in keeping the truth of the circumstance from him. I didn’t see they were crying when I passed them in the hallway.
In the interview that was featured on Today, he added the following information: “Nick would pass by every 15 to 20 minutes and lean down, kiss me on the head, and say, ‘I love you, Dad.'”
After a very challenging period, Al is again back at work and feeling as great as ever both physically and mentally.
