The four-year-old Ava Sue Ribeiro, who was injured on a scooter, will need time to recuperate, but the Dancing with the Stars host reports that she is doing “great.”
Little Ava fell off her sit-down scooter in May, the day before her fourth birthday, and sustained serious injuries. She needed emergency surgery.
Alfonso, 51, wrote in an Instagram post at the time, “The day before turning four is not the kind of day you desire. Just wanted to say thank you so much to @kareskinmd for the surgery and urgent treatment that helped lessen the likelihood of scarring. I am extremely proud of my little daughter for showing such bravery throughout the operation.
Alfonso now provided People with a positive update, saying: “My daughter is doing great,” and despite the “scary times, scary moments,” Ava is “recovering wonderfully.”

He said, “She’ll be here this weekend and so she’s doing well,” adding, “The process is going as we planned,” in anticipation of a Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C. It takes a very long time to complete. However, she’s doing amazing.
Alfonso Ribeiro has shared more information on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff.
The incident from May was brought up, and he admitted, “I wasn’t standing there when it happened,” adding, “Our nanny was there so we missed that, but she came in and – obviously – it was immediate that I knew that we were taking her to a doctor.”

Ava is shared by Alfonso and his second wife, Angela Unkrich, whom he married in 2012. They also have two other children, Anders Reyn, age eight, and Alfonso “AJ” Lincoln, age nine. He and his ex-wife Robin Stapler also share a daughter, Sienna, who is 20 years old.
The four-time father went on to commend his daughter’s perseverance in the face of what he anticipated would be a protracted rehabilitation.

He said, “She’s still moving around,” and added, “It’s technically healed, but it’s a big old scar so you want that to slowly work its way away and that’s what we’re working on.”
It’s only on the outside, he said. So, while to you it may not seem important, to your infant it certainly does.
When the incident occurred, Ava’s mother, Angela, wrote on Instagram, “My poor baby. When I woke up, I had a vision or motherly intuition that Ava would visit the ER today, so I warned everyone helping get ready for Ava’s birthday party—the family, children, babysitter, and friends—that “we are not doing anything crazy or dangerous today that may potentially end with an ER visit. When I spoke these words, I actually made everyone look at me.

She claimed that the unfortunate child fell off a sit-down scooter the day before her birthday. My remarks were regrettably immediately forgotten.
It wasn’t a nice way to spend your last day as a three-year-old, but she handled it bravely. Extra hugs tonight for this sweet girl,” added Angela.
