A single mother who was forced from her home owing to her 18-month-old daughter’s “blood-curdling” screams is now at her wit’s end and has nowhere to live.
Being a single parent is challenging in and of itself, but one mother has finally reached her breaking point due to her 18-month-old daughter’s “high-pitched blood-curdling” screaming bouts, and it’s easy to understand why.
The woman shared her concerns and account on Reddit’s “Parenting” subforum, where parents may exchange tips and discuss their problems. She explained in the opening of her initial post:
“My 18-month-old won’t quit yelling. I’m at my wits’ end because she screams this terrible, high-pitched, blood-curdling scream all day. I don’t even know how to cope with her anymore, so I just want to flee.
She continued, stating that her daughter’s scream outbursts appear to have no rhyme or reason and that she also jumps around erratically and throws herself against furniture for no apparent reason. She said that the woman “is like a possessed ferret and is constantly at risk of hurting herself.”
Even though this in and of itself is distressing, the mother went on to say that her daughter also wouldn’t stop making noise at night.
After hearing screaming for several months, her landlord finally spoke with her. The landlord in question lived right next door to them, and he had already brought up the noise a few times and gotten complaints from other residents.
The mother said, “It’s gotten to the point where we’re being kicked out of our house because the neighbors can’t stand the noise, and because of my financial situation, I’m struggling to find another place to rent.”
She further clarified that since she resides in the UK and her lease on her apartment expires in four months, this is all legal. They told me a few months ago that I could stop the lease early if I found a new place, but that if I didn’t, they would give me notice 4 months before it expires because they want me out.
The mother sought for assistance because she was already worn out from caring for her young daughter and didn’t know what to do.
She continued by saying that she sympathized with her landlord’s predicament.
“I genuinely realize that they are also fatigued, and the last thing they want at night is to be kept up by a baby. I’m doing my hardest to keep her quiet so as not to disturb them, but I’m failing badly. […] She never cries when she is hungry, and if I try to play with her or take her up, she typically reacts violently. Twice, she has scratched my eye, sending me to the ER. I’m not even sure whether this is typical behavior for kids; this is my first child, and I wasn’t prepared for this.
Reddit users were eager to reply and advise the mother to take her daughter to the doctor because prolonged yelling fits are frequently caused by medical problems like ear infections.
“My niece, who has a baby, was like this. Her parents had a terrible time. She would scream nonstop while grabbing your face with her claws. She is presently doing great. High school and junior college won’t be an issue, a Reddit member informed her.
“I’d need to speak with my sister-in-law to find out the reason. It had been so long. They received assistance, and everything improved. I eventually gained control over her without getting hit in the face.
