Model Bernardo Marziani from Italy has died at the age of 20. He was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
After two years of fighting Ewing sarcoma, the young man died on Friday.
Marziani told his thousands of social media followers about his battle with cancer.
He recently told them, “This tumor, Ewing sarcoma, was found in my left leg two years ago, in 2022. It was in unbearable pain that got worse and worse until my leg “died,” which is when they found it.”
“I did all of the chemo that was prescribed to get ready for surgery, but right before the surgery, I got metastases, so they had to change the treatment.”
“It was like the illness got worse over time and needed to be managed.”
People between the ages of 10 and 20 are most likely to get Ewing sarcoma.
It often starts in the pelvic bone, thigh bone, or shin bone, but it can also happen in the soft tissues around the bone or joint.
Marziani gave other people with cancer advice on his social media pages. For example, he told his followers that he wore a cold cap during chemotherapy to keep his hair from falling out too much.
He also talked about his own problems and symptoms.
The young model was the son of Lisa Martelli, a journalist, and Gianluca Marziani, an art critic.
He lived between Rome and Amsterdam, where he went to school to study anthropology.
The news site NeedToKnow says that his health got worse in January.
In a video, he said, “Everything was fine in Amsterdam until January, except for some leg problems that were fixed with radiation therapy.”
“But then a pleural effusion was not taken seriously, which broke my heart.”
“It happened because the tumor spread to my lung after chemo failed.”
“I had never been sick before that, and seeing myself sick was hard.”
“I had to stay in the hospital for a week because of the effusion. I also recently had two very intense “red devil chemos,” but I’m doing much better now than I was two months ago.”
