When we get older, we may lose a number of things that we had when we were younger. Perhaps we may not be as fast as we were or we may not have the reflexes that we had when we were young but there is something that we don’t lose, our ability to think things through. In fact, sometimes the wisdom that we gain when we are older allows us to get on top of things and to come up with a plan that will push everything in our direction. That was the case with this couple, and the way that they handled a difficult situation will leave you laughing out loud:
Earl, who lives in Florida, calls his son in California the day before Christmas Eve and says, “I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.”
“Dad, what are you talking about?” his son screams, horrified.
“We can’t stand the sight of each other any longer,” Earl admits. “We’re sick of each other and I’m sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in New York and tell her.”
Frantically, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like hell they’re getting divorced!” she shouts. “I’ll take care of this!”
