According to TMZ, Donald Trump is now being held in detention after turning himself in on April 4 at the district attorney’s office in New York City. Following this unexpected arrest, Trump is now the first president in American history to be held on serious criminal charges.
After a grand jury decided to indict him on March 30, this information was made public. Initially, the charges were kept a secret (per CNN).
Trump said via Truth Social that “this is an attack on our country the likes of which has never been seen” in response to the grand jury’s verdict. Despite his timing being slightly off, the 45th president of the United States did predict his death on March 18 in a previous announcement on his own social media channel.
Trump has alleged that Stormy Daniels received $130,000 in hush money in 2016. Daniels said in sworn testimony that the cash was given in exchange for her signing a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) prohibiting her from discussing her alleged affair with Trump in 2006 before the election. Despite the fact that Michael Cohen, his attorney, gave conflicting testimony on March 15 when he testified before a grand jury, he has vehemently denied the affair and insists that he ordered the payment. Of course, before approaching the courthouse, Trump commented on his arrest.
Donald Trump brought himself in at the district attorney’s office ahead of his arraignment hearing on April 4. The interaction “appeared on True Social,” Trump said as he entered the courthouse, adding, “OMG, they’re ready to ARREST ME, which is odd. That this is happening in America is unbelievable. MAGA!”
The peculiar circumstances of Trump’s imprisonment make it unclear whether he will receive special treatment. But like everyone else, he will have to go through the routine booking process, which includes having his fingerprints taken.
Trump was not departing from his position in silence, as is his custom. On March 18, not long after informing his ardent followers of his probable imprisonment, Trump made a passionate rallying speech. He asked people to protest and “take our nation back” on Truth Social. It appears that a number of well-known people responded to Trump’s call to action and joined his hordes of supporters in the streets of New York City before to his arraignment. They comprised George Santos and Marjorie Taylor Greene, two other ardent Republicans. These allegations are only the tip of the iceberg in the long series of scandals concerning Donald Trump. Many ongoing criminal investigations center on the former president, including one for inciting violence during the January 6 Capitol riots.
