Thomas Scott’s most well-known character is the wealthy and gorgeous Nikki Newman from The Young and the Restless. Scott’s life wasn’t, however, a fairy tale all the time. She experienced trauma as a child and has been making efforts to heal.
Scott was born in Los Angeles on April 18, 1956. She was born to a teenage mother who was still enrolled in high school, according to her book, Always Young and Restless: My Life On and Off America’s #1 Daytime Drama, published in 2020. The actress claims that as a young child, she felt “disconnected” from her mother. Scott said that she had no interest in me. She couldn’t care less about me.
Scott spent a lot of time with her distant grandparents, who were not particularly loving. Her grandma, she claimed, shared the same feelings with her mother, feeling “disconnected” from Scott and “dissatisfied with my existence.”
Yet Scott said she was “terrified” of her grandma due to her explosive nature and propensity for “fits of frantic wrath.” Scott’s granddad, though, avoided her and entered the attic. Scott, a young actor, was urged to do it by her grandma, a Hollywood aspirant.
Her grandmother stood by and saw several men from the company sexually attack her. Scott continued, “You see since my grandma was so determined for me (and her) to succeed, anything I had to do to win in business was fair game.
It wasn’t even necessary for it to be a producer or director. It made no difference if you were a grip or a boom operator. She believed in vain that any male in the entertainment world could assist us.
Scott said that she had agoraphobia, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing. The actor is reportedly recovering “piece by piece” as a consequence of regular therapy and meditation sessions.
The actress thinks having children was incredibly important to her recovery. her three girls and her husband, a 37-year-old man. It enabled Scott to bring up a child differently than he or she was brought up. She remarked, “I really needed it.” I had the chance to fix a lot of things that went wrong when I was a kid, she remarked. I deliberately went with the option that wasn’t the one that had been picked for me. I am overjoyed and delighted to watch their daughters develop into lovely mothers.
Scott stressed that she hasn’t forgotten, in particular, how her late grandma chose to ignore the sexual assault that was taking place. Not prepared at all for that. You wouldn’t allow it to happen to a little child, would you? She told Page Six, “I don’t know if I ever will because when they become aware, they become complicit, and in my eyes, that is evil.”
Scott is still of the opinion that her grandmother was battling her mental health problems. If her grandmother had had a diagnosis, she reasoned, it might have shown a personality flaw or a particular type of mood disorder that contributed to her conduct.
