Right now, Ricki Lake is having the “best” times of her life.
The former talk show host uploaded a selfie to Instagram on Monday in which she displayed both her skin and her feelings.
In the image, Lake, 54, is pictured sitting in an outdoor tub surrounded by tall redwood trees, smiling and completely naked.
Without a doubt, she wrote, “These days are the best of my life.”
“Young at 54 1/2 years old!” Thankful for everything that had to occur for me to arrive here. She said, “A place of total self-acceptance and self-love.
Lake started her self-love journey in 2019, but she didn’t go public with it until 2022.
In December 2022, she uploaded an unreleased video of herself shaving her head.
Footage from this year, 2019. In the video’s caption, she recognized her 30-year battle with androgenetic alopecia, the reason for her hair loss.
For those of you who have followed my journey and have shown an interest in it, I felt like sharing this unedited video footage now even though I have never done so before, Lake stated in the caption. Some of you are personally familiar with my battle, and I want you to know that I genuinely feel your pain.
You may watch me reach a state of serenity, freedom, and—most importantly—self-love and self-acceptance in this video.
Since shaving her head, Lake’s hair has grown back in, and she has accepted the fact that she has “natural gray and occasionally wild unruly head of hair.”
“May everyone who is having a hard time finding peace and acceptance. Life is far too brief.
Though some users think the image is inappropriate, she won’t back down.
I don’t understand why someone must display oneself in such a manner, one person remarked, while another added, “That’s all fine and good, but why do we have to see it, just wondering.” I find it really strange to upload a photo of oneself that is essentially nude online. Just my viewpoint.
None of these remarks received a response from her, but she didn’t appear concerned by them. After all, we have the right to accept the freedom of the creators we enjoy to share anything they please.
What do you think of her online posting of this?
We believe her main point deserves special attention! Time is wasted worrying about things we cannot control. The ability to accept and love oneself, flaws and all, is something we must learn!
