If you want to go on vacation and leave food in the freezer, you shouldn’t miss this post. We’ll give you a quick trick today that will help you assess whether the food you have in the freezer is ok to eat.
Sometimes we are away from home and the electricity turns off without our knowledge. But doing so can cause the frozen food to melt and degrade.
With just a single mug of water and a penny, one woman invented a brilliant method for us to check whether our refrigerators are still running at their peak efficiency. You wouldn’t again have to worry about having perishable produce in your refrigerator again if you tried this experiment.
The idea was developed by Sheila Pulanco Russell, who utilized ordinary tap water as an example. You may keep your food perfectly chilly and frozen in your refrigerator if the penny freezes. It is a remarkably easy experiment. Find out if you need to buy a new refrigerator to prevent food from deteriorating by doing this at home right now.
In a Facebook post that received tens of thousands of comments and shares right away, Sheila gives directions. She claims:
I said, “I’ve just got an excellent tip for all of you leaving the coast.” It’s referred to as the “one-cup tip.” A cup of water is in your freezer. Once it is completely frozen, put a quarter on top, and store it in your freezer. This will show whether your food just went bad while you were away and was subsequently refrozen, or whether it was still frozen when you returned home after being evacuated.
Once the quarter has defrosted completely and reached the bottom of the cup, the food should be thrown away. However, if the quarter is either at the top or in the center of the cup, your food may still be acceptable. It would also be a great idea to have this in your freezer at all times so you have a backup plan in case of a power outage.
If you don’t feel comfortable about your food, throw it away. The health of every person comes first. Please share this on your page. I appreciate it.
In any event, if you’re not sure if the food is safe, throw it away. The most important aspect of life has always been and always will be your health.
