Winfrey added of Tina Turner, who died on Wednesday at the age of 83, “I am a better woman, a better human because her life touched mine.”
The late Tina Turner is being honored by Oprah Winfrey.
After learning of Turner’s departure on Wednesday, Winfrey, 69, posted a carousel of pictures of herself and Turner having fun throughout the years on Instagram.
“I started out as a fan of Tina Turner, then a full-on groupie, following her from show to show around the country, and then, eventually, we became real friends,” she said in the caption accompanying the picture.
She is the goddess of rock ‘n’ roll for all time. Over the course of her life, she developed a remarkable inner strength.
Turner, she claimed, was “a role model not only for me but for the world” and “encouraged a part of me I didn’t know existed.”
The “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer provided the TV host the courage to live bravely, the host said.
Her life “became a clarion call for triumph once she claimed her freedom from years of domestic abuse,” she added. She showed what triumph looks like while sporting a leather miniskirt and Manolo shoes, and I admire her boldness for doing so.
She once informed me that she would not be terrified when it was her time to leave this world, but rather enthusiastic and intrigued. She had learned how to LIVE since she was surrounded by her loyal husband Erwin and friends.
Winfrey thanked her life for its influence on her, adding it had helped her become “a better woman, a better human.”
In a later tweet, Winfrey included a video of her and Turner dancing on stage and singing “The Best” together.
“I got the chance to accompany Tina onstage on her ‘Wildest Dreams’ tour and felt a peek of her beautiful universe,” she said in the caption for the video. My knees began to knock against one another from my anxiety. Dancing on stage with her in Los Angeles was the most delightful experience I can recollect having outside of my comfort zone.
“Tina encouraged me and every woman to do the same,” she remarked. She was an unconventional person.
Then she added, “Watching Tina perform is what I call a spiritual experience. With each exhilarating swing of her miniskirt and each slide of her three-inch Manolos across the stage, she exudes the message, “I am here.”
She stated, “When I leave a Tina concert, I feel the same way I feel after viewing any great art: I want to be a better person.
The renowned singer passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland’s Zurich region, according to her staff, following a protracted illness.
A note on Turner’s Instagram said, “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.”
“Today, we bid a good friend farewell; she leaves behind the world’s greatest gift: her music. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Tina, you will be terribly missed.
