The Best Tricks for Keeping Fresh Strawberries Fresher Longer

Are you looking for a way to preserve strawberries indefinitely?

The fresh berries in a single carton might not last forever if you don’t consume them all right once, but we have three surefire techniques to make them last longer in the fridge!

Try some of these easy tips if you’re tired of wasting away perfectly good strawberries because they went bad too quickly.

The best tips for strawberry storage at any stage are listed below:

Strawberries that have recently been purchased, strawberries that are wilting in vinegar, strawberries that are ice water, and paper towels

Strawberries can be washed in vinegar and placed in a bowl to increase their shelf life.

1. Take this action when you first purchase strawberries.

Put white vinegar in a big dish with 1 part vinegar and 5 parts water. Put the berries in the solution and let them soak for a while. The vinegar will get rid of the bacteria and spores of mold that make fruit decay quickly. In the picture above, you can see how the water appears after the strawberries have been rinsed. Yikes! 😳

The berries must next be properly dried, either by spinning them in a salad spinner or letting them air dry in a colander. Once the berries have dried completely, put them in the fridge.

However, you must consider whether the strawberries have a vinegary aftertaste.

We can guarantee that they don’t. Although I haven’t personally tried it, this method is reportedly effective for blackberries and raspberries as well.

2. If strawberries are left in ice water for a while, they will survive longer.

You should do this when strawberries start to wilt.

Place the berries in a large dish with some ice and water, then wait 20 minutes. I’m done now!

This advice was first presented in House Beautiful, and now that it is purported to revive withering strawberries, we can see on Instagram that it has become popular.

The images speak for themselves; try rinsing your strawberries in ice water to make them appear fresher, brighter, and plumper.

Although we have no idea how it accomplishes it, it does!

This hack obviously won’t work if your strawberries are already going bad; it doesn’t work like magic to make rotten food taste like it was just picked.

3. Strawberry’s shelf life is increased when they are stored with a paper towel.

As soon as they go, continue doing this.

This advice applies to a wide variety of berries. After utilizing our first or second advice above, putting your fruit in the fridge on a paper towel will keep it even fresher for longer.

Because mold grows in moist areas, keeping your berries as dry as you can will help them last longer.

Put a paper towel in the bottom of the container to absorb any extra moisture if you want your strawberries to keep longer in the refrigerator.

Many readers recommended preserving strawberries in a Mason jar and storing them in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

If you have one on hand, use it!

Now is the moment to devour those delicious cherries. Yum!
