Zubaida Hasan, who was nine years old at the time, grew up in a rural area of Afghanistan.
But 2001 marked a tipping point, and after that, nothing ever returned to normal. A small gas stove owned by Zubaida suddenly blew up. She quickly caught fire, which resulted in significant damage.
Her arm became plastered to her side, and her face melted into her chest. Zubaida’s father was informed by a local doctor that her prognosis was grim and she wouldn’t survive.
But because Zubaida’s father resisted accepting reality, a miracle happened.
Following the horrible incident, the doctors said they were powerless to help. They advised the girl’s father to take her home, put her to sleep, and let her to pass away.
However, Zubaida’s father persisted and ultimately decided to gamble. He carried Zubaida to the US military hospital in Kabul, the Afghan capital, despite the fact that it seldom accepts civilian patients. But the physicians there made an exception and accepted the girl because of how seriously ill she was.
Zubaida was quickly transported to the US by air so that she may receive treatment from famous burn doctor Dr. Peter Grossman.
Zubaida underwent a number of procedures that required skin grafts from various parts of her body.
Despite her childhood, Zubaida possessed incredible tenacity and resolve. Dr. Grossman was deeply affected by Zubaida, and the two rapidly grew close. She was offered to stay with the plastic surgeon and his wife so they could help her get through this trying time.
Zubaida had mastered the English language, enrolled at a nearby school, and made a ton of new friends in just 12 weeks.
Zubaida was able to sing, play the guitar, and dance once more after a year, thanks in large part to the hard work of the physicians and the girl’s own strength.
Zubaida was given a second chance at life even though her initial doctors dismissed her as a hopeless case, and the outcome has been nothing short of astounding.
