Cheryl Tiegs, the first supermodel, captured men’s attention 45 years ago with a pink bikini ad.
Since then, she has been on the covers of Sports Illustrated, Vogue, Glamour, and Time. Later, she prioritized her own well-being while using her notoriety to advocate for environmental protection.
Despite being charitable, Tiegs has drawn flak for saying that Sports Illustrated “glamorized” a “full-figured model.”
Tiegs, 75, from Alhambra, close to Pasadena, began modeling at the suggestion of a friend.
Tiegs claimed that she began modeling in college because she believed that models came from another planet. She performed for free at fashion shows in department store parking lots and then for $5 an hour, which she described as “great money for me at the time.” I was glad. I gave it my all.
Without ever having seen her, Glamour magazine hired 17-year-old Tiegs for a shoot in St. Thomas after spotting her in a multi-page swimwear spread. Glamour began frequently employing her. Her first professional cover was published in 1966 by Teen magazine.
Tiegs was featured on three Time magazine covers, including the All-American Model issue from 1978, as well as three swimsuit issues of Sports Illustrated from 1970, 1975, and 1983. In 2012, Men’s Health listed her as one of the “100 Sexiest Women Ever.”
Regarding her early modeling career, Tiegs remarked, “I don’t know what it’s like now, but I think it’s much more catered to the models.” They now receive a lot more attention. “People magazine wasn’t even around when I started modeling,” she continued.
neither Entertainment Tonight nor CNN. No Twitter, Facebook, or mobile devices either. So, just now. I enjoyed using a present-oriented strategy.
In a 1986 episode of Moonlighting, Tiegs made the switch from modeling to acting alongside Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis. Both Just Shoot Me and Family Guy featured her.
She participated in RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2011 and appeared on Celebrity Apprentice in 2012 to represent the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.
In the 2003 film The Brown Bunny and the 2016 film Sharknado 4: The Fourth Awakens, Tiegs co-starred with Chlöe Sevigny.
Since it made sense, the majority of my fellow models went on to become actors. I chose not to take action.
She married and had children.
She wed the photographer and artist Peter Beard in 1981. Tiegs was married to Mr. Mom director Stan Dragoti from 1970 to 1979.
Years were spent by the two at Beard’s ranch in Kenya. It “brought me up to another level in life and taught me so much about the animal kingdom and nature,” she says, calling this time the “most amazing.” One of my most memorable journeys.
Tiegs, who divorced Beard in 1983, claimed that he was her most intensely passionate love. He inspired my love for him. “I’ve loved him,” she claims.
After spending three years with Beard, the gorgeous supermodel wed Gregory Peck’s son Anthony Peck. Actor Zachary, their first child, was reared by her and Peck.
After divorcing Peck in 1995, she married yoga instructor Rod Stryker (1998–2001). Jaden and Theo, the couple’s twin children, were delivered via surrogacy in 2001, despite her claim that “it was so not a marriage.”
Tiegs put her attention on the environment because she cared about the future of children. She advocates for women’s reproductive rights, promotes global warming awareness, and sits on the board of the Earth Conservation Corps in Washington, D.C.
“I think we have to go out and ally with all our friends worldwide,” Cheryl added. “The world is shrinking.
She also went to the indigenous Tarahumara people in Mexico’s Copper Canyon and the Barnes Ice Cap, which is melting in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
Tiegs advertised her 4,770-square-foot, $12 million Bel-Air mansion in 2013, which attracted media attention. The home sold for $14,075,000 in 2020.
She claimed in 2016 that Ashley Graham, a plus-sized model, was featured on Sports Illustrated’s cover to encourage an unhealthy way of life.
Talking about women with large figures makes me uncomfortable since it celebrates them. That’s what Dr. Oz said, and I’m sticking to it, Tiegs stated on E! News. It’s harmful. Stunning face. Beautiful. Long-term health is compromised.
Tiegs claimed in 2017 that the media sensationalized her statements “because all I was doing was trying to look out for the health of someone who’s too thin or going on the other side of the scale.” Just select a healthy route. Her condition is unclear. She makes a choice.
Yoga and a healthy diet help Tiegs maintain her good looks.
You have to earn it. Exercise and diet are daily activities. You might stop exercising or attending Zumba sessions as you age. Exercise each day.
“Do something you like,” she advises. I read a lot but gave up. Back I come. Make funny friends. Right now, all I want is a companion who can enrich my life. It’s pleasant, beneficial, and enjoyable.
Cheryl Tiegs, 75, is gorgeous despite what her job entails.
Do you concur that Tiegs believes being thin is healthy?
