A newborn child was abandoned in someone’s yard while still attached to the placenta and umbilical cord. The infant was exposed to the sun and was about to die if a 9-year-old girl dressed as an angel hadn’t stumbled upon it by chance.

While playing outside, Elysa, a 9-year-old Indiana girl, heard odd noises. She went to investigate because she believed one of the pigs had gotten away. She moved carefully as she observed the teeny pink legs.

Elysa shrieked and hurried home to tell her mother about the “abnormal” monster. In an interview with Brad Edwards of CBS 2, she stated, “It just freaked me out, I didn’t know what it was.”

Heidi Laub, the mother, went to look into it and discovered a newborn close to one of the bushes.

She said, “Oh my God, it’s a baby,” and I said, “What?” Elysia remembered a particular detail.

Elysia said, “I only saw pink legs kicking away.” We were on to something, and I could see it was alive. I had no cause to doubt my own abilities. I realized we needed assistance.

Thankfully, the child was transferred to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where medical professionals discovered that he was fine. The baby, according to them, was just a day old.

The baby’s guardian angel, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, is Elysa.

Elysia pretended shame, saying, “I didn’t do it.” I was helped by God, someone said. He put me in that predicament.

We would have found a dead infant in the yard this afternoon if I hadn’t been there and God hadn’t commanded my brain to force me to go there, the stunning girl claimed. “It would be very different, and much worse.”

The infant was given a second chance at life because of Elysa.
