Phil Collins, the renowned Genesis drummer, and lead singer, has achieved great success in the music business throughout the course of his illustrious career.

He joins Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson as the only three musicians to have sold more than 100 million records both individually and collectively. Collins, who was raised by creative parents in London, England, on January 30, 1951, was first exposed to music at a young age.

His distinctive sound was created when, at the age of five, he acquired a homemade drum kit from his uncle that included tambourines, triangles, cymbals, and miniature drums.

Essential bands like The Shadows led the way as the English beat culture started to take shape. Collins would later lead this movement and frequently play social events that were sponsored by his parents’ boating club.

Collins was introduced to rock & roll at the tender age of fourteen and was moved to buy a record player and Please Please Me by The Beatles. He would put his drums in front of a mirror and crank up the record player so he wouldn’t have to look at what he was doing.

To learn how to read drum music, which was necessary if one wished to work in a dance band or orchestra pit, he decided to take drum lessons from a teacher. Collins realized right away, though, that playing intuitively was far superior to reading music notation.

When Collin came upon an advertisement for a drummer who belonged to Genesis in the 1970s, his life took an astounding turn. Collins got in touch with them, and they accepted him, starting his illustrious musical career.

They had a lot of songs that became classic masterpieces that we still appreciate throughout their five albums as The Beatles. Due to a dearth of suitable options, Collins quickly took over as the band’s lead singer.

Although it took him some time to become used to playing the drums and singing at the same time, he persisted and eventually made himself known as one of the best musicians of our day.

Collins enjoyed enormous success both as a solo artist and as a member of the legendary band Genesis. He rose to the top of the music business thanks to hits like “I Don’t Care Anymore,” “In The Air Tonight,” and “You Can’t Hurry Love.”

After 25 years with Genesis, Collins made the decision to pursue a different musical career path, concentrating on jazz endeavors, film music, and his solo endeavors. He stated his hopes for the future of his former bandmates, but when 2017 arrived, he decided to reteam with them for their Last Domino world tour.

Sadly, the pandemic forced the cancellation of this tour, and right before it started, Phil gave an interview to BBC Breakfast, which prompted considerable worry about his health. Despite this setback, the band intends to reunite for another performance with Nicholas Collins on drums and Phil taking up the vocals.

Despite the fact that Nic is an excellent drummer, Tony Banks claimed that he could make the early Phil Collins songs even more impactful than they already are.

When asked why, Phil responded, “I’d like to, but I can hardly grip a stick with this hand,” when asked why he wasn’t playing the drums anymore. Even though it does present certain challenges that must be overcome, Phil has not let physical limitations stop him from pursuing his passion for music.

He wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue traveling due to his condition. His statements gave off the impression that he had accepted the fact that some activities were no longer appropriate for him to partake in.

He found it difficult and challenging to decide whether to continue on his current path or to stop going on trips. He understood that he would have to give up something he liked either because of a physical restriction or a deliberate choice. He was overwhelmed by the thought of missing out on several opportunities in life as a result of this sudden change in circumstances, which made him feel very heavy.
