Finding out that your favorite show is about to end or, worse yet, be canceled is never a nice thing.
Every time I read or hear that one of the many shows I’ve come to love over the years is getting close to its last curtain, it breaks my heart all over again. You’d think I’d had enough disappointment by this point to be able to accept it and eagerly anticipate discovering something new, but I haven’t.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who freaked out when news about the upcoming season of the popular Western series Yellowstone began to spread last week. Perhaps I should add that there is no future.
The Paramount hit is expected to terminate its run at the end of its fifth season, which is almost halfway through. It appears that this was almost formally publicized.
Many theories exist regarding the causes of the situation. A five-season renewal of Yellowstone would probably not face any opposition given how well-liked it is and how it has developed a cult following.
The show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, and actor Kevin Costner appear to be at odds, thus it might be ending too soon.
According to information recently provided to the publication, Sheridan and Costner’s conflict has gotten worse because “certain people in charge of the production developed a God complex.”
The main problem, according to speculations, was Costner’s discontent with the show’s overall direction. Costner is the biggest celebrity in Hollywood. According to The Daily Mail, after voicing his concerns, Costner, an executive producer on Yellowstone, was told to “stick to acting.”
According to the insider, Kevin will always appreciate and be proud of Yellowstone, and he views the cast as family.
He was warned that Yellowstone was veering from its desired course and told to keep acting.
According to The New York Post, Costner also planned to lighten his schedule for the fifth season of the Western in order to devote more time to other endeavors.
According to a source who spoke to the Washington Post, there is respect but also tension between any showrunner and key performer.
After reducing his work on the first half of season five of Yellowstone, it is thought that 68-year-old Costner only intended to film for one week in the second half of the season. The Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves protagonist needs extra time to concentrate on his upcoming film, Horizon, according to a February piece from Deadline.
However, Costner’s attorney Marty Singer refuted claims that the actor had attempted to lighten his workload, saying: “As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.”
Whatever the reason, there is no denying the conflict between Costner and Yellowstone director Taylor Sheridan. Taylor is the star of his program, according to a “highly placed” Hollywood source, claims the New York Post. Each of his objectives centers mostly on him.
According to insiders who talked to The Daily Mail, Sheridan was “overburdened” by his schedule and unprepared when Costner became available. It’s possible that this is what started the present issue.
“Kevin has been accommodating while dealing with Taylor and 101 Studios, his production firm. They were missing the scripts, a source told the Post. They were planning to start shooting Season 5’s second half later in the previous year.
Kevin has already agreed to helm his future films. He had shared his trip schedule with the producers. Nothing was there to shoot.
Like the rest of you, I’m eagerly anticipating an answer. Yellowstone is one of my favorite movies, so it’s hard for me to think that it would be as good without Kevin Costner.
