William Shatner Admits He Won’t Have Much Time Left

The 91-year-old Star Trek legend William Shatner recently discussed his impending death in an interview conducted in advance of the premiere of his documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill.” Shatner acknowledged that he doesn’t have long to live, but he nevertheless made the documentary to stay in touch with his grandchildren after his passing. He claimed that because time was of the essence, he wanted to leave something behind for his loved ones to cherish. Shatner has five grandchildren total from his three prior marriages, making him a proud grandfather.

The documentary, which was helmed by Alexandre O. Philippe, will have its world premiere in Texas at the SXSW Film Festival. Leslie, Lisabeth, and Melanie Shatner’s daughters are also included in the film. Shatner discussed his grandchildren and how becoming a grandfather has given him the most joy in life in an interview with The Guardian in 2014. He claimed that he spends time talking to them, giving them hugs and kisses, and imparting some of the wisdom he has gained over the course of his distinguished career.

After reuniting with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Martin, three years after their $2 million divorce, Shatner recently made headlines. The couple openly discussed their reignited enthusiasm when in attendance at the Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills in January. Shatner claimed Elizabeth is full of life, and she referred to their bond as “cinnamon.” Shatner and Elizabeth reached a divorce agreement in March 2020. While Elizabeth gained their properties in Malibu Cove and Versailles, Kentucky, as well as a portion of her family farm in Indiana, Shatner kept his Studio City home and ranch in Three Rivers, California.

Shatner has been married four times over his life. From 1956 to 1969, he was married to Gloria Rand, with whom he had three children. After that, in 1973, he wed Marcy Lafferty; they remained married until 1996. Nerine Kidd Shatner was the subject of his third marriage, but she passed away in 1999. In 2001, he wed Elizabeth, and the two of them were together until their separation in 2019.

Shatner is very active in his business and personal life despite his advanced age and health. He continues to work on new projects while maintaining a close relationship with his family. He wants to leave a legacy for his loved ones, and his documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill,” is just one example. Inspiring many others, Shatner’s open comments about mortality serve as a gentle reminder to treasure the time we have with our loved ones.
